SEN-ESSENCE – some days

SEN-ESSENCE, “on the art of aging’ published in 2010, is available on amazon.  After being officially labelled “old” at 65 by the Canadian Gov’t, in SEN-ESSENCE, over the last many years, I have explored the aging process (senescence), and the attributes (essence) that make us who we fundamentally are – forever young at heart.

Some days

a wasp is crawling up your pant leg.

first snow intrudes, an omen of more to come.

Some days come and go,

when you can’t remember

what shirt you wore yesterday,

what you had for lunch,

what you were supposed to

pick up on the way home.

thankful you have a home,

a mindful nutherday

still growing, and shedding, not wasting

away – after all these years.

some days are troublesome

some trouble free.

some full of fend and forgive

with a promise of a better day.

joyful of remembering in kindness

all that has passed away,

still knowing and believing

everything,       now,

in wonder to perceive

forever,                        here to stay
